My Story

A Ture Story that happened in August 1991 while I was in the midst of a Reflexology Certification Training \Program, and had my first experience with Aromatherapy and Essential Oils.

It was early evening.  I had gotten home from an exhausting day with the anticipation of having a long, relaxing hot bath.  As the water flowed, I pondered as to which one of my variety of essential oil blends that I would indulge in tonight.  Thinking of the long day and the idea of turning in early, I decided on the Deep Relaxation oil blend..

Just as I was about to drop the aromatic oils into the hot water, I was Interrupted by the ringing of the telephone. The familiar voice of a long-time friend and neighbor was filled with anxiety. She asked if I had a specific brand of an expectorant as she complained about not being able to breathe.

I advised her that I did not have that product, but I did have something that might help her. I picked up my frequently used, little brown bottle labeled “Bronchial Oil”, and rushed to her side.

I was taken by surprise at first sight of her, as I had never seen her so pale. Moving closer, I realized that her body was in dire need of oxygen. Immediately I began performing “reflexology” via her feet. Remembering that her left lung had been punctured a couple of years ago, I began working the reflex zones of the left lung with a small amount of the bronchial blend. In no more than a minute, she gasped a deep breath of air, as she exclaimed, “What did you do?  I can breath.”

She went on to share with me that her breathing had gotten progressively worse and that this was the first good breath of air that she had taken in several hours. I explained to her how the precious essential oils were extracted from natural plants, and how several different oils were mixed together creating a blend. I told her that with proper use the oils were absorbed into her blood stream. Then I explained that using the oil blend with Reflexology would exhilarate the process of sending the healing effects to her lungs.  She was quiet amazed, as was I. Then she said, “I want some of that.”  I left the oil with her and advised her to add a few drops to her bath, and then rub a small amount on her chest before she retired.

I stopped by the next evening to check on her. I found that, aside from the fact that she had coughed a lot of phlegm from her congested lungs, she felt fine.  She is now a firm believer in the science of Aromatherapy, as am I.
